Navigation on the website – statistics
I collect non-personally identifiable information from you. I use the Piwik software to do so. It lets me know how many of you have visited my website, how long you stay on what pages, what countries you are from, etc. It allows me to improve my website according to your preferences. Here is precisely the data I collect from you: your Internet Service Provider, browser and computer type, date/time of visit, pages viewed, language, country and anonymized IP address.
If you wish not to give out those informations, I recommend you to opt out of Piwik unless you've already set the preferences of your browser not to accept cookies.
The telegram and the contact form
You may give me personally-identifying information such as your name and email when subscribing to the telegram or using the contact form. I collect such information only as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of your interaction with crazy-about-language-learning.com. I do not disclose this information unless very much pressured by legal authorities.
In any case, I will not rent, sell or exchange your data (potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying ones) to anyone.
Furthermore, I take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction of your data. Your data stays in Europe and I comply with the privacy rules of the European Union legislation.
To be noted even if it seems obvious (this is a legal page, remember) : if you have subscribed to the telegram, I will occasionally send you an email to tell you about the linguistic world, propose you exclusive offers on my books or offers on other stuff that may interest you, solicit your feedback or keep you up to date about freshly published texts and drawings.
Commenting on the website – anti-spam plugin
I rely on the Akismet plugin in order to send spam comments directly to the bin. This plugin is very good at its job, but this means that it collects quite a few infos in order to know which emails are good and which are fake.
Akismet thus collects the name, the email address and the comments you post on Crazy. It also collects your IP address, browser type, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information. Yes, that's a lot, sorry, but again, this piece of software is really useful to go through all the fake comments.
Check for yourself
If you want to identify what cookies and other spying softwares are watching over your shoulder and be able to easily remove them, I recommend that you install the Ghostery plugin in your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox …) Here is what it looks like :
